Our deep-golden-to-amber Swan Fine Day is a 4.4% Goldings triple hopped ale, brewed to celebrate our marvellous County of Herefordshire and the optimism of Summer 2021. We are all looking forward to fine days as freedoms return - a dawning of a spell of reunions, relaxing and reacquainting.
Head Brewer Jimmy Swan is rather taken with the honey, spicy, earthy notes of Herefordshire-grown Goldings. This long-established grows well here in Herefordshire. The Goldings for Swan Fine Day are all grown by the Hawkins family at The Farm in Bosbury. To craft an ale where the notes of the Goldings hops sing through, Swan Fine Day is triple hopped. Hop cones are introduced at the beginning and end of the boiling process of the wort in the copper, with further Gold being added to the fermentation vessel when the fermentation is complete and the ale is conditioning. This thoughtful approach creates a beautifully balanced hop character to the ale.
The blend of grains has also been selected with precision to feature pale Maris Otter, plus amber, chocolate and crystal malts. The combination of these malts creates a deep golden-to-amber ale with a nutty bite.
Swan Fine Day will be available in casks plus bright beer sharing boxes (order online) from week commencing 24th May. It will be the spotlight beer at our June 4th Tasting Day, alongside 4 other cask ales, food from Promiscuous Pasta and a selection of ciders, hot and soft drinks.
