Ruffled Feathers at 3.8% is a crisp amber ale brewed with Herefordshire Cascade hops. Milder than its American cousin, UK Cascade has rounded citrus, lychee and floral characteristics and delivers a smooth integrated bitterness. Drinkers can savour these tropical fruit notes on the aroma and the clean, crisp hop flavour that lingers. Carared malt lends the merest glimmer of red to the bright, amber beer plus a gentle maltiness and body to the finished ale. In simple terms, Ruffled Feathers is a classic amber bitter.
The Cascade hops are grown at Townend Farm in Bosbury by Mark and Lesley Andrews. Across our beers, you’ll notice Head Brewer, Jimmy Swan, has a bit of a penchant for UK Cascade. The British Hop Association gives the lineage and characteristics of UK Cascade.
A good place to enjoy Ruffled Feathers is with Andy and Sue at the Axe and Cleaver in Much Birch, especially at their first Friday of the month tapas evening. Out near Malvern, the Green Dragon offers a good pint of Ruffled Feathers or if you are in the Wye Valley, at Symonds Yat, head to the Old Court Hotel to savour this crisp, amber ale.
